kennel flooring

what do most of you guys use . has anyone tried class A sand. if so how did it work.

i use concrete :cool: as im a concrete finisher at work but if i had to choose rock or sand, id pick one inch "white rock chips". they will pack down and be fairly firm but yet will still drain water easily. pea gravel is ok also. id stay away from sand as it kind blends back in with the ground pretty quickly. just my thoughts as i use different kinds of "fill" quite often at work.

Gravel Dust is what I use got turned on to it by bunch of beaglers I know. Packs great and can tiller it back up and smooth it out every so often. I bleach and lime mine when I tiller.

thanks black dirt and mr j. black dirt that class a sand is not really sand but real fine gravel a step or two away from sand. it is alot like what mr j is talking about. i was thinking about puting lime under the class a sand. but i have always been scared to use lime afraid it might mess with there noses. because that lime is some tough stuff :!:

I am building a new kennel and I am going to use a-sand I drive a dump truck and the guy at the quarry said it will do great if you level it out and wet it down the roll it with a good heavy roller it will pack and be like concrete.

va country boy thank you do you think it will still drain, i don't see why it wouldn't. and i was going to use a vibrater on it.

I have both paving blocks and pea gravel in my kennels....I prefer the paving blocks...they hose off, don't make a mess when the Beagles play chase, and can't be dug up...so I would choose pavers or concrete myself next time ;)
