Don't know what to think

Post by spado »

The other day I was driving down a pretty busy street and saw a sign saying "Puppy Sale". I looked a little closer and saw they were beagles. So my curiosity got the best of me and I pulled over to look. I asked the lady about the blood line, and she said she had no idea. They weren't registered litters. Then I asked her if they hunted the sire and dam, and she said they didn't have time because they had thirty some dogs in their kennel. This is what gets me is they were getting $175-$200 for pups with no papers and 250-300 for pups with papers. She told me they never have any problems getting rid of them. They all had T-shirts with the logo "Puppy Farm". What do you guys think?

I was in a pet store the other day and there was a beagle pup for sale. You would not believe the price they were asking for it, $900 CDN. Most registered beagle pups in my area sell for between $250 - $ 400 its crazy what some people will pay for an unregistered pet.

i would contact the local authorities and ask how many dogs are you allowed to have. how many puppies are you allowed to sale before you need a business license. contact the area animal control and let them know what is going on.

DENNIS, IT'S CRAZY WHAT PEOPLE WILL PAY FOR A REG. PUP.
AROUND HERE THEY GO FOR $150.00- $200.00, I WOULD NEVER PAY $400.00 -$500.00 FOR A PUP. OF COURSE, I JUST HUNT BUT EVEN A PUP OUT OF TRIAL DOGS CAN BE A DUD. THAT'S JUST TOO MUCH.
TOO MANY THINGS CAN HAPPEN & I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE OWNER MAKEING MISTAKES, OF COURSE , THAT CAN HAPPEN TO.

beaglhandler, why would you want the government coming into these peoples lives, do you want them in yours? People are doing this all over the place. The petstores live off of it.

Be careful what you ask for you just might get it. If they start coming into these peoples kennels yours aren't far behind. How many dogs do you think the government should allow us to have.

Spado never said there was any mistreatment of these dogs. You may not like that they are making money off of dogs you wouldn't buy, but this is still the USA and freedom is what we are celebrating next week.

It's called capitalism, supply and demand, and freedom. I have seen registered pups from reputable bloodlines that are so shy and retarded they were a disgrace to dogdom. Pick up a copy of Hounds and Hunting and peruse the pages. The odds are that the pups the lady was selling are of have more endurance, and would be of more use as hunting dogs than most of the champions in H&H. The same is true of most of the beagles in the magazine, Dog Fancy.

The pups did all look healthy and did have their shots. I was just wondering how you guys felt about the prices and thanks for the responses, But Nite Owl, sounds like you need some anger management classes or something. That's what just talkin dawgs is all about. I knew it was a puppy mill as soon as I saw them, I just wanted a little feedback. You should know who your talking to before you start calling people stupid!

KEEP THE GOV'T OUT OF THIS!!!!!!!!

Do your part and spread the word about such places.

As far as prices, if they get it, good for them. If I could get $900 for a pup, you better believe I would sell it in a heartbeat! So would all of you.
