Male or Female? Bigger or Smaller?

Post by magic_rabbit_hunter »

Ok heres my question. In one week, well 6 days I am going to go pick up my half basset/half beagle. There are 4 red and whites and 5 tri colors. There are 8 males and 1 female. The female is tri. Now heres my problom. I want the smallest one possible.....the one that will come out the most like the beagle. Now theres only one that really looks like a basset and hes a tri. Now the smallest pup there is a male red and white, and then following him is a male tri, then the female tri. Now heres my question. Which one of them should I pick? I know the males are smaller now, but I heard females are smaller than males. So will the males still be smaller than her when they are fully developed? I also want to know does it make a difference on which one will be a better hunter? Male or Female? Ok just give me your opinions on this please, because I want to choose the smallest dog that will be the easiest to get to hunt. Tell me what I should do if you can or what you would do.

the pick of the litter is a crap shoot. there is no sure fire way to tell which pup is gonna be the best. i went off of looks when i picked my pup. do that. or put them all out and call for them and whichever one gets to you first take that one. something like that...........keith

If you want one most like a beagle, Why don't you just get a beagle?

I also know they will hunt, because there parents both hunt even the basset hound the owner takes out hunting. He didn't expect for there to be pups it was an accident. Turns out a male dog running with a female dog in heat when the owner don't know shes in heat makes puppies lol. Anyways I misunderstood him. It was not next week I got my pup it was this week. So I ended up picking the girl, because she is the prettiest and she looks the most like her mom (The Beagle) I named her Brandy.

i have a female named brandy. lol....and there is not a 100% garuntee that the pups will hunt just becuase the parents hunt. it is very likely that they will but not 100%. this is what I THINK at least. keith
