Question about CKC to AKC reg

Post by Eric Estep »

I bought a dog that was CKC reg but had been reg in AKC by a former owner. This man sold him to the guy I got him from, which never reg him in his name. So we filled out a supplemental transfer so that the hound could be reg in my name. I sent the akc papers and supp. transfer into the AKC which sent me a letter stating that before they can transfer him into my name I have to have him reg in name with the CKC. I don't understand why he has to be in my name in the ckc. I don't have the CKC papers and don't know where they are. I've contacted the guy I got him from and I'm waiting on him to call back. Can someone explain to me why this is. Thanks Eric

Eric: First I presume you are stating, Canadian Kennel Club and American Kennel Club. They both have a Policy that a dog registered in there Registery's will be in the same owners name in both Registery's. That is why you have to register the dog in C.K.C. in your name ,before you can transfer the dog to your name in A.K.C. You can write a letter to the C.K.C. ,explain what you wish to do, and get a Duplicate copy of the Registration to have signed by the Owner in C.K.C. and then transfer into your name. I have done this awhile ago, and thats how I remember ,what has to be done. Hope this helps. Lee
It dose't cost any more to feed a good one
