VA. beagle get togethers?

Post by skidmark »

I've only seen a few from VA. any body know of any dog shows, sell or trade type things close by? I went to walker days in N.C.. That was a waste of gas. 4 hours down ,6 hours back.{didn't get lost, just went the wrong way} rather get a root canal as to go back!

Skidmark,

I'm not far from you. I live between Greenville and Raphine. Not a trialer but have a dog or 2 that can run a rabbit. I run alot so you are welcome to join me sometime.

Id feel better about huntin with new people when i actually have a desent bunch. don't want to mess any body else up. ;)

Skidmark,

Don't be fooled by alot of what you hear. Most guys are in the same boat and have decent hounds. Don't let the big names and top pedigrees intimidate you about showing your hounds. If i had to guess when it really comes down to it what you have can not be any worse than what most of us feed. Hang around long enough and you will realize that a pedigree does not run rabbits. You can run with me anytime not to much worried about other dogs influencing mine. My only concern is running with known deer runners and i have alot of deer. Just wouldn't want to give my young dogs an excuse to run deer. They can screw up fine without any help(lol).

Skid,

All mine are AKC. Regardless of lineage they all still eat and sh** the same. Mine don't know they have papers and don't care. I have seen a pile of exceptional grade dogs in my time.

im not a breeder i've never been in a trial. i just like going out huntin. it's about the only thing me ,my brother, and brother-in-law do together. i don't care if i get the first rabbit, i just like seeing the dogs run. people that knock huntin aint never done it. i have a 7 week old little boy, as long as i got good dogs in a few years for him , i'll be happy

I have seen Joshs dog run and they are great little dogs. Papers dont run rabbits just help to know what they are out of is all. Mine are all AKC but that is only because i like to trial. There is a rial in Lynchburg VA the weekend of the 18th of this month and im going to try and be there.

Dogrunner,

I was wondering if there is any clubs in your area? I am looking at buying some property to the north of you to build a starting/running pen. If there is a club nearby I want to way my options on what will be the cheaper way to go. I appreciate any info you can provide me.
