I'd say 90% of dogs that made FC in the Mid-West quit trialing after they finished. In the last decade or so, several were continued to be trialed chasing either the Mid-West High Hound or Better Beagling High Hound Awards.

Funny how rumors like that spread, unless they were all derby's and all age trials. Maple Lane Frosty Bawls has 14.67 points in AKC.

Ranger Dan had 30 wins. His 30th win came at Thornton in SPO.

Trimmer 18.

I want to say that Itchy may of had a win or two more then what is listed on the AKC site John, but I'm guessing. That said everybody that was judging back then had a story about a time they picked up Itchy.

Continuing to trial FC's has definitely made it more difficult to finish a dog in the Mid-West. I remember a few years ago watching a nice 15" bitch by Prime Time, Wells Woods Bonnie Sue owned by Robert Hatfield. She was as good as most FC's, but had eight 2nd places behind FC Durham's Lily. They went to a brace several times. Bonnie didn't finish, but made a name for herself by hanging tough with one of the best ever Mid-West FC's. You have to beat a few FC's in order to win a trial now & I like it like that personally. It gives everyone more opportunities to see these great hounds run & makes the FCGD title in the Mid-West even more prestigious.

John-PA, Now that's funny! None of his dogs handled that mine were ever down with at a trial. Years back was at North Hampton-Russell till after dark trying to help him catch one of his hounds and never did. He got him later that night. Look, Look was how he called them, I'll never forget it. Art was quite a character at the trials. Great houndsman!

Sorry, Oliver did have a brother; Townline's Ruff N' Ready. Not sure if he was a FC, but I saw where he placed 2nd at the 2005 AKC Large Pack Nationals; 15" male class.
