Dog barking at night

Post by pmb »

I have a 13 yr old dog that's barking in his kennel the middle of the night.I need this to stop, just wondering if the bark collars would work and if so what type would be best, bark activated or romote style. Also open to other ideas.

I have the Bark Limiters (pre-Garmin buy out of TT) and they work great.

I've heard some have not been happy with the new ones Garmin is putting out. One of mine I've had for 9 yrs. and still works great. The others I've had for 3 yrs.

If you have an e-collar put it on the dog and put transmitter next to bed. Use high the first time and that usually takes care of it and do not yell at him just light him up works wonder around here.

I use the Garmin PRO Trashbreaker, it has the bark collar built in it. Best collar out there for the money. Keeps them very quiet!

I went the cheap way and use a belt and a stern voice.

I use the sport dog bark collars. The expensive ones. Work great and very small. Best part is it's rechargeable. Last about a month or more on a full charge. No changing battery's!!

I have the same problem from time to time. I live a good distance off the highway & most of the time it's the neighboring farms horses getting close to the fence or an occasional critter near the lot but a few weeks ago it was a vehicle sitting a couple hundred yards from my house. When my outside lights came on to investigate I saw their brake lights as they were trying to turn around. I ran out & got in the truck but they had to much of a lead so didn't catch them. Haven't been back yet but I'm waiting.

Point being yes it can be aggravating but that night I was very pleased with them. I understand the problem if someone lives near neighbors or in an area with strict noise laws but if not they're a pretty valuable alarm IMO.

I agree, take a look at his teeth. I had one that started barking at night after never doing it in his whole life. He ended up with a bad tooth, I had the vet remove it...problem solved. I know the worse tooth aches I have ever had started after the sun went down. JMHO
