Re: new garmin product
the collars will shrink down to almost nothing if you re route the collar strap. take it off the collar and start it in the side of the reciever that runs up to the gps, then route it through where you would normally buckel the collar and through the holder below the gps reciever. you now have to slide the collar over the dogs head but the buckle is now not taking up distance . i have ran it like this on 10 week old pups.

Re: new garmin product
Why would you start this conversation on the board right now? I could just as easily tell you god isn't real and you are wasting your life believing in fairy tales...les guynn wrote:Mo Beagler 5000------------I would like to tell you GOD is real and if you don't believe this your are really going down the wrong way of life. I stopped posting for a very long time to avoid these conversations and I believe you all have a right to your own beliefs. I used to be a christian and I still hold a pastoral license but my conscious doesn't allow me to be a christian anymore.
Now as to whether there is a "god" or not in the general sense, I don't really believe there is and if there is one, I would hate to meet him because he seems to me like jerk.
I really really really hope the garmin come in smaller versions soon, my poor dogs legs are getting beat to poop.
God isn't real, Beer is good and people are crazy, there I fixed it.

Re: new garmin product
hey mo. you KNOW why he brought up the subject. it's because on your headline it says god isn't real, there i fixed it etc. you also know that most of the people that read this site are Christian's so why have that on your post if not just to anger them? you sound like an educated man. time to act like it.
Re: new garmin product
mo-5000 don't let them get to you. it amazes me that people think if you don't believe what they believe then you are going to hell. this is a beagle board not a church so please leave your religious believes at home. this topic is about smaller tracking collars not how everyone's going to hell except for a select few. by the way I hope the collars get smaller I have some smaller bitches that have sores on their legs also.

Re: new garmin product
For me I didn't have a problem with getting the collars tight enough. The box is too big and the way its built it bangs on their legs. I couldn't stand to see them bang their legs on it and beat raw spots. I believe that most beagles hit their legs on these collars but their owner may not be realizing it.
If I agreed with you then we'd both be wrong.

Re: new garmin product
yes i will try to post a pic. Basically you put the buckle on the side that has the antenna instead of the open side where it comes from the factory. to do this the d ring must be removed.

Re: new garmin product
I had same problem collars too big. I solved the problem myself.1
1. remove collar from tracker.
2. Cut the 2 rivets below the collar loop (Not the buckle)
3. remove the loop and drill a hole just big enough to fit a rivet in just below and between the 2 remaining rivets closest to the buckle.(you do not have to put a 3rd rivet back in I just did it for my own piece of mind.
4. put collar back on tracker.
By doing this you will gain close to 3/4" of tightening and approx. 2 holes tighter on collar. I did this on my collars because I called Garmin and all they said was "they were aware of the problem and trying to resolve it"
Hope this helps everyone it works for me.

Re: new garmin product
Tom, I used the same method you describe but I think Sam has came up with a different method. The way I understood his post was to take the collar off and start threading it back so the buckle sits between the box on the bottom & the GPS receiver on top opposite the way the factory does it. So if I'm correct you would:
1. Remove collar
2. Start threading collar through keepers on box on bottom on the same side the rubber strap that connects to the GPS receiver is on.
3. Continue around to the open side of collar and feed collar through keeper under the gps antenna from th open side.
4. Now your collar buckles sitting on top of the connecting rubber strap & sits between the GPS receiver on top & the box on bottom.
Now you will have to either slip it over your dogs head before tightening but that method would allow the collars to be adjusted much smaller than the method I used & you described above. Sams way sound much better for very small dogs or young pups. Pretty brilliant if you ask me, never thought of that but definitely gonna try it.

Re: new garmin product
Crow you hit the nail on the head. I have been using it like this for over a year with no issues, only thing I'd you have to slip it over their head but that hasn't been an issue. I have one really small female and never noticed it hitting her legs, I always run my tracking collars in front of their regular collar close to their head. Wonder if this makes a difference.. I can't get the pic to load if anyone would like pics my cell is 3015828791 send me a txt and I will send you a pic.

I talked to a garmin rep a week ago. She said as far as she knew there was nothing in the works. They have, and she has,
referred complaints to the manufacture and that was it.

Had a rep tell me the same thing a while back. Said no new products were in development and none were scheduled for release. About 5 weeks later the TT15's were released. I don't think they lied to me, just not sure how "in the loop" the guys & gals on the phones are kept.
Re: new garmin product
Technology companies always have new products in testing. ..If they didn't they would not be in business very long. The argument for the secrecy has always been they want to protect the sales of the current products but that has never hindered sales for the iPhone for Apple. You know there is always a new one coming.
There will always be some waiting for a new model. ...Some who buy whatever is currently available. ..and those that do without all the new stuff. The Alpha is a great product that will continue to improve with time. I expect some day the alpha will be the size of a cigarette liter.
