Bassett hound or Basset/beagle mix if so why?

Yrs. ago, it was Rod Place and Jacob James, I remember with the hunting bassets. Rod was in Mich. and Jacob was in Oklahoma.
I've never seen a basset around here with any hunt but that doesn't mean they don't exist. The majority are pets so the breeding is influenced alot by non-hunting individuals. The bassets had big hound mouth and tender noses, I saw the arha basset hunt at the Coal Country Club one time, they hunted close and ran a medium speed you could keep up with.
I think like anything, if you like them, they are fun to watch.

I had a half beagle/basset when i was a kid she had real short front legs and real long back legs . she was colored like a beagle
and real wasnt too houndy looking. she was highly intellegent and a good rabbit dog. ran about medium speed . she started by
herself and was ran solo her whole life and she never ran off game. back in the late 70s when fur prices were high . i spotted
a big red fox hunting a swamp zig zagging back and forth. i tried to get Lady to run it and she layed down like she knew it was the wrong thing to do! lol
