What's the difference in running style of dogs in the negbf, ibgf, and midwest?
Thanks

Re: Different akc federations
Good question I'd say little pack then progressive pack then brace but that is just a guess I'd like to no more myself
Re: Different akc federations
My personal opinion is there is not much of a difference between the majority of the Clubs in the Midwest Beagle Gundog Federation, Northeast Beagle Gunddog Federation, or the Iriqouis Beagle Gundog Assosiation (IBGA), or the eastern clubs of the newly formed Pennsylvania Beagle Gunddog Federation (PBGF) which was the PBGA and just recently broke away from the Northeast.
For example, recently I finished a big male at a Midwest trial with 45 entries, when he finished he had 3 places in the midwest, and 4 wins and multiple places in the northeast. Remember the northeast includes(ed) the IBGA and PBGF(A). He also placed at NBQ at the 2013 Large Pack Nationals and NBQ at the 2009 Large Pack Futurity (only two large pack trials he was in).
Another example, I am currently campaining a little male that has 5 wins and alot of places between the northeast and the midwest. Additionally, there are alot of guys I know who have had success trialing in the above mentioned Federations/Asssociations.
On another note, there are some clubs in each federation or association that you will not fit in at, as some may be more conservative than others, ect. And if you can play in any of the above mentioned places then you won't be able to run in the western part of the PBGF(A) or the United Beagle Gundog Federation (UBGF), as they are mostly gundog brace style hounds (Walkie Talkies).

Yep I run midwest style dogs and went to a UBGF trial when I was first getting started. I tink it may have been the quickest $20 I ever spent. IF I was down for 5 minutes that would be the longest
Needless to say that was the only time I tried that. Live and learn the hard way sometimes I guess! They hated it but I sure showed them how to drive a rabbit

Re: Different akc federations
Ive attended a couple UBGF trials in PA, MI, and IN. Was very surprised to see the vast variations in speed. Some favored a very slow brace style hound while some favored a strong dog that might be able to compete in MW trial. The best explanation I could get from the regulars was..."you have to know who is judging". I have observed some variation in the faster going formats but not quite to this extreme. They all use the same SPO rule book......

I went to one of these trials when my dog jumped vthe rabbit smoking his butt thew the there pen and ran it right into the fence. When he grab it and ripped its head off I thought them fellas was gona beat me with there stick chairs. I was real proud of my hound they picked him up told me I was in the wrong formatt and said dont bring a fog like him back here. I think it was ugbf or brace.
