A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
We had a big three day hunt over thanksgiving break. We really put in some ground time on the hounds and ourselves too. Tried out a few new places we just happened to stumble on. We ended up with 66 rabbits in 3days and I would say 100 rabbits jumped ran or seen strays. Could be more could be less. We had some long chases some short chases and a lot of fun hunting with friends and family. Saw some great hound work and by the 3rd day those dogs were still running strong till the end as we had to call them off the rabbit to leash up and go home. Wish I had one of them fancy garmins so I could tell you how many miles they ran in 3 days. Really happy with a young pup of mine off my own hounds he's really doing a great job at such a young age. His name is snoopy. hes out of my duke hound which is out of greenbay butkus. Duke still proves to be one of the top hounds in the pack of 10 we run.
In no particular order
One heck of a head shot on the run. to be honest I think it was a lucky shot
Yes she still retrieves. The famous Tracking Leah

You gonna have to put lighter loads in that ole humpback and be careful not to shoot your foot off. Let the rabbit get out a ways...
Somebody must have broke the combine, whats that corn doing still standing?
Looks like a action packed three days, those hounds eyes look weary...
Good hunt'in...

Its public land and they leave a lot of crop out for the wildlife. They did take out the beans though. We found a lot of rabbits in the standing corn. I actually stood inside the corn a time or two and witnessed more strays than I can count just randomly running through the corn. Obviously they were hard to hit as you only have a small opening to shoot. Very interesting hunting though inside that corn.

Thank you!
Anthony
how have you been Anthony? I have a cousin from sicily visiting right now. he's the guy on the right in the bright jacket..lol he was born here but moved back when he was very young. Since he has a US citizenship we were able to get him an apprentice hunting tag so he is able to hunt with us. You have to be hunting with a licensed hunter and stand within ear shot. He is having an absolute blast. He use to hunt rabbits in sicily but hasn't for the last 5yrs because there arnt very many at all. The farmers over there have cleared all the fields, not many thickets left. He has been sending pics back home to his buddies they just cannot believe the kinda hunting we have over here. He's lucky I'm his cousin..haha I put him in the rabbits for sure. The very first time I ever went rabbit hunting was with him while I was over there visiting. I was a young 15yrs old. It was just me him and a ferret and some rock piles...lol Now I am able to take him hunting here in America. Its pretty awesome the way things work. Sadly I don't know when I'll get to hunt with him again once he leaves.
