Re: losses
Losses = loosing the rabbit
I agree sometimes it'll hole up but 9 of 10 it's a loss in my opinion

Re: losses
My dogs are like LSU football, they don't lose they just run out of time.

I prefer to be lost, being found is the problem.

Re: losses
All dogs will lose the rabbit eventually. They get tired of being chased and pressured. Is there a specific time that constitutes a good run?

sorry about that mr. snelling just kiddin around alot of variables senting cond. female rabbit young rabbit My dogs are not the best in the world but they can stay on a rabbit 75 % of the time untill I pull them off or hole up Had them go on 15 min check and come up with the rabbit ,most guys will give them 5 min and move on Most dogs are going to lose some, unless you can find a red cape for them jmo
Re: losses
I sent you a pm....I am assuming that may not have come thru.
my opinions in that....dogs fail...mine do...even the "good" ones at times....lets be realistic and not let ego's get in the way.

Re: losses
I Guess I don't see what the big deal is? EVERY dog loses a line . If they didn't, every trial would score but one rabbit, and the judge would run his/her butt off for one hour. I've been into trialing little over ten years , and have seen a wire to wire run just a very few times (maybe 3 times). Define a loss ? a check is a loss.

Re: losses
The specific time depends on the speed and efficiency of the dog. A cottontail is a sprinter. They can't take constant pressure for much more than an hour. If a dog maintains steady pressure, after an hour, the rabbit usually gets caught or goes to a hole. If a dog is sloppy and has long checks, the rabbit can rest then sprint again, then hide. Dogs that won't work a check will usually jump another rabbit, then you have relay races, switching rabbits at every hard check.rabbitatfarm wrote:All dogs will lose the rabbit eventually. Swamp rabbits and hare, its a different story.
