I have swum beagles but, have swum way more harness horses and other race horses. The dogs will all swim a little differently. You'll probably need to swim each dog differently . It is predominately an aerobic workout so, pay very close attention to there respiration. Keep track of the time it take to bring up their pulse and respiration and give them time to recover and then put them back in. Expect some of them to panic at first , which isn't a big deal with a 30 lb animal but, can get pretty interesting with 900 lb animal. :D
Stay with them the whole time they are swimming!!!!!
It is a good tool when it's too hot to run them.

Some of my dogs have been swam during conditioning by a friend of mine Steve Mullen.

He has a harness set up and a tub, works well in heat. I have heard him say up to 30-45 minutes...makes them rock hard.
You would definitely want to be close at all times.

I would do it if I had a nice garage set up like he does...good luck.

Running Canecutters your dogs will get a lot of swimming.

Shouldn't do it this time of year around here as you can see the 1,000 pound plus Alligator on the internet caught in the river and they like swimming dogs for a snack.

Friend caught a BIG Rattler Saturday that had 14 rattles and opened up its stomach and inside was a full grown squirrel.
