Re: Best dog that has came from your kennel...
FCGD Wells Woods Valentine : she was out of my former bitch, Wells Woods Silver Star, the product of my two best hounds, FC Brent's Prime Time & FC Wells' Silver Spring. I finished them both in 2002. Valentine's sire was FWR BJ's Fudd; he had 2 wins, but would measure out of the 13" class too much to keep trialing him. Fudd was a great hound with great looks and had a tremendous bloodline also being out of IFC Haunted Hill Shaker & IFC Stoneyhills Tamarack.
I bred & raised Valentine; she was a big, strong, full 15" with a houndy head that any big male would be proud of. She was tri-colored with heavy ticking. Val was loaded with brains & would run according to scent; she could walk if needed & had a ton of foot when conditions allowed. I trained her long enough to know her potential. I won a couple of Mid-West derby's with her at Berea( Jessamine Co. & Mid-Ky) then Marvin Strange from Richmond, Ky. bought her & he did all of the leg work it took to finish her as FC; he was nice enough to let me still claim half of her. He knew how much I liked her and only sold her because I had to at the time. By the end of her first full year of trialing, she had 3 AKC wins & 8 other licensed places, but still lacked a few points to finish. As icing on the cake, Valentine won the Mid-West Championship Runoff in 2011 to become an AKC FC. To show the quality of hounds at this trial, note that FC Durham's Lily placed 2nd & FC White Oak Creeks Jada's Bella placed 3rd ! Running was spectacular.
Sadly, shortly after raising a litter of pups by FC Pound The Ground Chance a year later, Valentine died at the home of Roger Hanning in PA. Roger did everything he could to save her as he loved Valentine as much as we did. Thankfully, she did leave behind some offspring that will keep her name alive.

I have a male named Show Me's Slick that is out of Musgrave's Bloomfield Duke X Roberts run more mighty Angel. Angel was 100% rabbit dog that died way to early I was fortunate to make the cross before she passed. She was a great long check dog and was a true gundog. Duke is a pleasure to gun over also and great check hound w lock on ability he also is a super long check dog. Both of Slick's parents show up in his ability to run a rabbit. He's the first dog out of Duke that's old enough to trial that something hasnt happend to. I also had a female that was the real deal but she died when she was about 14 months old she was a littermate to Show Me's Crank which is also a nice young hound that should be showing up in the trials in the future. I've also got some good young dogs coming up out of FCGD AJ's Levitra. I enjoy watching a young dog grow into something special, probably get into that more than I do anything else. I'm in this to better the breed and I hope that's what I accomplish.

Re: Best dog that has came from your kennel...
Haven't been into the breeding part of Beagling, but have a few crosses under my belt.
Casey's Crankin' Crystal.
Crystal is a young hound that has shown grit and jump ability. This dog is becoming my favorite dog day by day. She had stellar hunt, with good lock on ability. I've packed her several times and also soloed her as well. She has a intense focus on her rabbit. She doesn't bs with older dogs like young dogs do. She knows her purpose and has the brains to figure out a twisting cotton tail. She has been ran on Swampers one time and she pushed hard for the front that day as well. I remember Glomski and I was letting her solo for a few hours before I called her in. She has a high pitch chop.
She's out of FC Branko's Red River Runner X Harner's Briar Bashin' Blaze.
She was sold as a puppy but I bought her back at the age of 7 months.

Re: Best dog that has came from your kennel...
The highest finish of a dog that I bred and started, I sold at about 18 months. The owner entered him in a Mid West Trial and he got NBQ in a class of about 75 hounds. He was by FC Jim's Roscoe and out of Break O Day's Rose. Rose was sired by a Northwoods LPH male and out of a Gay Baker bitch. Jim's Roscoe was out of LPH and Gay breeding also.
I don't believe that he was the best dog that I have bred but NBQ in 70 hounds is better, IMO, than first in a class of twenty.
That was about twenty five years ago.

Re: Best dog that has came from your kennel...
FC Clear Creek Hoss. There were 4 hounds in this litter and I raised and started them all. All the dogs were nice but Hoss had the ability to lock on to a track and just lay on it like few dogs i had ever seen. He was special early.
I entered him in 3 midwest trials. He was just a little over 2 years old. The first was in Indiana were he was called back for the second series but not the winners pack. A short time before we picked up that second series I remember Eddie Taylor asked who owned that chop mouth dog. I told him that he belonged to me and he said ''That chop mouth sounds like he is leaving that pack''. I dont know if Eddie remembers it but I never forgot it because when i ran to catch Hoss he was running at mach one and about 15 yards ahead of the pack. For whatever reason he had not done what he needed to at the right time in front of the judges and wasn't called back but i went home happy with my hound.
He won the next week at Illinios and ran in the finals of that hunt as well as any hound could. John Dewyse watched the entire final and told me it was one of the most impressive wins he had ever seen. Hoss never got rattled.
He won the next week at White Water and went down to the wire against 2 top notch hounds in FC Ohios Reggie and Switch A Gear. He squeezed it out.
I sold him to Denny and Scott Wade who finished him out with places on Hare and cottontail and 5 total wins I think. He has a great home with the Wades and I have a kennel full of young dogs off of him and females that will be bred to him. He left a huge impression on me.

Re: Best dog that has came from your kennel...
In 1994 I bought a female pup out of I.F.C. Maravic's Blue Ninja x Greenbriar Charity. She started early and easily on hare.
In 1995 we moved to Tennessee and she was introduced to her first cottontails.
In 1996 I had decided to breed her and bred her to a linebred D.F.J. male. She was pure hare hound in her foot, running style, check work and hunt. His was much more typical southern cottontail hound work with medium speed, closer line running and check work, more mouth and earlier to open.
Low and behold I got everything I was looking to get with that cross [which doesn't often happen ] in a perfect blending of the desireable traits.
All 8 pups in that litter turned out to be fine rabbit hounds.A pair of females went to Ky. to Anthony and David Reynolds up near Cave City and became Rabbit Champions.
The dog that got the most trialing opportunities was a male that I sold to Mike Grosch. He named him Shady Grove's Patch.I hunted with Patch his entire 12 year life on cottontail, swampers and up north on hare. All of which he excelled on.
On his way to becoming a Grand Rabbit Champion Patch also won the Tennessee State,Mississippi State, top 5 at Kentucky State and was Runner-Up Hound of the Year.
I was never prouder than at Watertown,Tn.Little Pack hunt where I got to see Patch win the Champions to make him a Grand and his daughter Shady Grove's Poison Ivy win the Opens to make her a Champion.
I bred three different females to Patch over the years and got very nice pups each time.
Unfortunately his owner cared nothing about promoting him to stud or breeding him so he was only used a handful of times.
I'd hope to produce another like him.

Blaze has 3 akc wins, placing in spo and large pack. 14"
