I heard that Retread had passed as well. Not sure thow. I am planning to cross my Ruby female(double Shaker) with IFC Beaver Creek's Kickazz. This is the same formula that the late John Monkman used so many times. Shaker bred female to Striker bred male. I am looking forward to those pups as well as the Recoil x Lady cross. Recoil and Lady are one tough pair when you put them on the ground together! This bloodline is the best, pure rabbit dogs that I have ran! I have had beagles pretty much since the day I was born and I'm 41 years old now! They hunt hard, have great noses, plenty of speed, stamina, brains, and are easy going, well mannered dogs! If you've never ran with any of them you should! They will make a believer out of you for sure!

Anyone that's looking to know more about Awful Bawlin should contact Harry Snow Jr. he goes by Competent on here im sure if you sent him a message he would get back to you. As stated by someone else on here he and John Monkman where like father and son.

Johnny, had a very good thing going. I spent a lot of time with John back several years ago, 7-10yrs! Mtn. man was a terrific individual in his own right and crossed well with Johnny's shaker females. The females themselves were excellent, some titled others not, but still great individuals. Squealer, Agnes, Adrienne, Halo and Artemis were very nice females. That is one of the most important facts. ALL GREAT INDIVIDUALS. That is what I think equals success. You bet your butt John knew what faults he could come up with when he made a cross, you would never hear him say "I don't know how she runs I just got her to breed". So many look at studs and try to "find a female to breed to my male". You should be looking for a male to breed to your female! I have Verswacker here at my house now. Why did I pick Wacker? His mother was absolutely FANTASTIC! I judged her several times and ran with her at Johns as well. Who did I breed him to? Maple Hill Blue Banshee, littermate sister to Keuka Blue. She is one of the best females I have ever bred, raised and owned. I am also going to breed him to a daughter to Banshee, sired by Maravic's Blues Clues, she too is an outstanding individual. No matter what line you choose, make sure you know what your getting. Do you know the female as well as the male? I am not sure how often Harry gets on here, but I know he would say the same thing, after all... all he runs is females!! As far as the original question, I don't think there are many left directly off Mtn. Man, Wacker may be one of the last titled males. Daryl Martin in Ontario had a littermate to Retread, but not sure if he is still alive. There is Yahoo somewhere in Northern NY. I owned a couple over the years. Some good ones I remember were. Igniter, one of the first Mtn. Man litters I believe, Mischief, Maggie Mae, Retread, Nefarious, Question the Judge, Only the Lonely, Verswacker. John named them in alphabetical order i.e. Igniter was the "I" litter, all the pups were named with "I". Hoser would have been one of the last Shaker litters, then I was Mtn. Man and so on. I had Otis at one time, older brother to Retread out of Squealer. I also had a female off the "Y" litter one of the last before Mtn. Man died. Actually as I recall they were born after he died. There was a "Z" litter too, then that was all for Mtn. Man pups.
Good Luck to all! and, as Johnny always signed off to me... L&S Trudy!

Ruby has been a pleasure to own! She is 10 years old now, but in her younger days she could handle any conditions with ease! I took more chances by running in the summer then. I guess you get older and things like that get to you a little more! I'm not going into the weeds this time of year and I'm not sending my dogs in either. Anyway back to Ruby. She always jumped rabbits no matter where I put her on the ground. As consistent as any dog I've ever seen. That's another thing that I love about this line of dogs, consistency. They give it all they've got every time out. You just can't ask for more than that! The first time I took Ruby in the wild, she was getting checks on a LP Rabbit Champion within an hour of hunting, and she never looked back! Her littermate sister was bred to an Alibaba male and produced some very nice dogs as well. I have one of the females out of that litter and she is just like her aunt Ruby. She is also a great jump dog, leaving no stone unturned, and consistent in every aspect! Looking forward to seeing Kickazz, hopefully it won't be so hot when she comes in. Maybe I can bring Recoil up and we can run some!

FTC Awful Bawlin Zorro Real One may still be alive. He was in LA at Lester Firmin's late last year. He is out of the Man and Hoser.
