It's been kind of slow on the forum lately. Anyone planting food plots for rabbits? If so what are you planting? I plant corn, cowpeas, grain sorghum, millet, oats, buckwheat,
and a mix of crimson clover, Austrian winter pea, and wheat. Not every year; I usually rotate my plots. I also leave one fallow. I over seed clover in my grass fields and this year I added canola. I strip disc and spray herbicide strips. I usually mow once or twice over summer to generate new grass growth. My plantings also benefit deer, turkeys, and song birds.

Re: Food Plots for Rabbits
I tried signing up for a program with the Illinois DNR, acres for wildlife, which helps land owners plant native plants for wildlife. Wanted to plant some little bluestem, Indian grass, and switch grass. It's apparently impossible for them to ever get back with anybody though.

Re: Food Plots for Rabbits
Do the rabbits use the sorghum for cover? I'm planting PF Michigan mix and sorghum though I only own seven acres. But I have access to several hundred acres next to merabbitatfarm wrote:It's been kind of slow on the forum lately. Anyone planting food plots for rabbits? If so what are you planting? The use sorghum and millet for cover as well as a food source. They eat the grain heads and browse the plants when young.
