No way Shane,if I wasgonna do that I would just go to 20 gauge, the 28 isn't much more than a 410 in shot payload ,
I agree john, what folks don't understand is the tc contenders are considered to be handguns, like the derrinders, judges, thunder 5s,etc....any smooth bore barrel added to the frame as a custom now needs registered as a short barreled shotgun(sbs)
Just a 200 dollar tax.

Not sure how I can justify that.

If it started it's life as a handgun, then it stays a handgun.not sure how the game warden will distinguish it,probably will confiscate and let the court figure it out

Not to hijack a thread or pick a fight, but a 28 gauge is a lot more gun than a 410. It has a longer shot string and more powder and shot. It hits a lot harder than it's given credit for. I've seen them take down pheasants at a pretty good range. May have just been a golden BB, they are a lot closer to a 20, in performance, than to a 410.

This barrel length discussion is interesting. I'll bet law enforcement might not even know the answer for sure.
