Field Trial Champing ? what does it really mean

In the thirty plus years i have been training and running dogs the words (Field Trial Champion) mean that this is a dog that has been worked very hard by his owner and in and of his self to reach the title. Is every one perfect no but for sure most are well breed and out of or producing great dogs that match the style or abilty of the trials that they have won.
Most may disagree but over the years i have test it time and again. So does that mean that if you get a pup out of them it well be great Well that depends on how much you now and how much you put in to the pup No they are not all great but most are better then the junck that guys are selling just to make a buck. Yes you will have to spend a good chunck of money but you get what you pay for.
------------But before i finish know this if you get a F.C. off spring you had better now your stuff. Why you ask Because these dogs are useally smarter then most dogs and a little harder to train then most I have found that most have a greater energy level then average hunt dogs. So you got to stay at it longer and harder Just going for an hour or two will not cut it but give it a try if you like remmeber they are little stick TNT looking to blow off some energy. Not some thing you can live in a gage for 10 months out of the year and exspect them to just dump on the ground add water shack and poof instant rabbit dog. IT TAKES WORK TO OWN A GREAT DOG
So for all those readying this and can not figure out why have this post on here Because it is the truth from what i have seen BUT REMMEBER I HAVE NOT SEEN IT ALL

To me, it means there was some good blood/training in there somewhere. To win or place consistently a dog has to have a good amount of hunt, brains and desire. That said, I have seen a few dogs luck into a win. But no one has that kind of luck at every trial. The dog has to have something and on this day, at this time, he had more than the other dogs. An F.C on the pedigree might sell a few puppies, but there's no guarantee the pups will amount to anything. You still have to put time into a pup to see that it develops and reaches its full potential.

I have never owned a FC or even won a trial. But have culled more fc sired pups and even double fc bred pups than i have from just plain rabbit dogs. Although i have a couple running dogs that are fc sired that have a home with me for life.

I don't have any fc's so don't read anything into my question but what was the reason for culling them? I'm sure not all the same reason but was there a certain fault that seemed to stand out to you??

FC means that the hound can take extreme pressure and so can the handler's wallet.

Mainly through not making the cut of being a good rabbit dog.one , he could run a rabbit but he tended to do a little backtracking and a could not break him from dog barking. One male was gunshy and could run a really good deer both double mated. Worked both theese two and never could correct em. Had a female could run a rabbit pretty well alone but would fight everything i put down with her. Another female was opposite. She could run one just fine but as soon as another dog harked in she quit, she was double mated.another double mated male just did not have what it takes and worked him til almost two and gave him back to the breeder(my buddy) cus i just plain could not stand him but my buddy liked him. One female would over run everytime the rabbit turned and would just look stupid tryin to figure it out, she olso loved to run deer and didnt seem to over run them..lol. another female was just way too far in a check then i like. Thats the ones i remember. Most were kept til well over a year and up to two. If it is two and i dont like it then i never will. Theese were from many differant bloodlines and even differant style dogs. Went through quite a few pups and a bunch of running dogs to find what i was lookin for. And still get one that dont suit me here and there out of my own dogs. Aa far as having an fc i will never have one for i only go to one or two liscenced trial a year and maybe a couple derbys to support my club.but i pleasure run year round and stock the freezer during rabbit season.

Are concerned about is the running style and that's fine but u have to jump him before u can run him I have seen many fc that would just stand around and look for me are another dog to jump a rabbit
