Has anyone seen the pups that FC Smokes Creek Sryis McGee has sired ? I have seen two and own one and think all three pocessed alot of hunt for such young dogs. All three were briar busting, line running, work a check from point of loss, no quiting rabbit running dogs. Not one of the three pups I have watched were over 18 months old. I have also received emails from others that said their pups from Syris were exactly the same. Just my two cents.
I have a Smokes Creek Syris McGee dog that is ok but is nothing special. He has a great nose but has backtrailed for a short distance a couple of times. He also follows my other dog around a lot and does very little hunting on his own. When solo he will find rabbits but not as well as my other hound does. I like him but I wish he were a little more independent when it comes to hunting and I wish he had more foot. He will consistently get checks on my other hound but is soon left behind when the race gets going again. When it is tough he outperforms my other dog easily but when conditions are good he has a hard time contributing. Together they give me a great team that provides me with a lot of enjoyment.

Pete, I've seen several run out of the Superdog line and they are loaded with hunt. When I say loaded, I mean hit the thickest stuff with a vengeance, like they are on fire! I'd say the cross of the Superdog blood has "some" influence on that hard-hunt (not saying the Syris side didnt contribute also). I have a 3/4 Sock It To Me, 1/4 Superdog hound that is a rabbit searching, briar-busting machine. Thats him in my avatar to the left. Sounds like you have a fine hound there in your dog.

Darrin - I agree w/ you in regards to Super Dog adding the hunt! I saw Syris in the kennel, but regret that he died before I got a chance to watch him run or to hunt w/ him. From what I understand (talking w/ those that handled him and watched him a number of times), Syris was not a briar - busting machine. He was an above average jump dog, but did more cruising around rather than bull dozing the thick stuff.
What I like so much about the Syris blood is the brains, gears, check work, and ability to explode out of check and leave the rest of the pack 50 yards behind.
The cross was made w/ Super Dog to add more hunt (on top of an already good jump dog) and the breeding program was to breed this litter back into the Syris blood, but unfortunately Syris died very unexpectantly.
