Dogs ran one stiff

Joey I have had dogs do that a couple of times and at first when they bring you the rabbit you think maybe that was a rabbit that died during the night. It is weird how they tighten up like that. that is when you know your dogs our doing good.

Good pictures. I envy your youth, your ability to hunt, and the apparently good places to hunt. I've seen with my own eyes more catches than I can count, a few of them stiff, but then I have been rabbit hunting 58 years. Bobby

I've seen several cottontail go stiff....."scared stiff"
We've had them go stiff in the PP trials too.
The Rabbit is alive, head moves, but body is stiff as a board.
Within a short time it dies.

Seems to happen more for me in the spring when they lock on real good with hardly any breakdowns.

Anthony leah was the one that brought it to me....my dog lightning has brought a few so has my dog suzy and leash son bandit has brought a few..leah gets them all honor she'll tug a war till she gets it from them.

I've never seen a rabbit go stiff, that would surely be neat to see happen! I'm jealous your dogs bring the rabbits to you. My female will, but I'm pretty sure my male will just proceed to eat the rabbit. Never seen a dog want the rabbit as bad as him. We always show the rabbits to the dogs after we shoot um. He has grabbed his fair share right out or hands as if to say "thanks for getting it for me".
