Warning about the dangers of tick bites

Post by garyd »

Wayne Hopster from Southern Indiana is currently recovering at U of L Hospital in the ICU unit as a result of a tick bite (Erlichiosis). He was flown by helicopter on Wednesday night from the hospital in Jasper, Indiana. The hospital had to fly in a Infection Specialist to help with the diagnosis. He is currently on kidney dialysis because his kidneys have shut down and doctors have given him a 50/50 chance his kidneys will start working again. Everyone please keep Wayne and his family in your prayers and please be careful while running dogs this time of year as it was very hard for the doctors to diagnose Wayne's problem. Wayne is a very dedicated fellow beagler.

Will be praying for him!! How long was the tick attached to cause that kind of damage? Is it a immediate thing or does the tick need to he attached for awhile??

I got it years back at the Ky state, close as i ever come to dying my kidneys shut down and i was super sick. I aint ran dogs much since. I hear about all the majic pills and such also sprays the best thing i found was Deep Woods Off and that still allowed a tick i could hardly see nearly kill me. It took me 3 months to come around.

Wayne is out of the hospital and is slowly getting his use of his kidneys back. He will have to see a kidney specialist and needs time to get his energy back. He is going to be off work at least three more weeks and said he is still very weak.
