jump shooting
I would explain to your friends that you didn't work your tail off through the off season to have them jump shot.It does take a bunch of time and money to keep these hounds in condition.Me & my huntin buddy maybe bag 2 or 3 rabbits per week. Most of the time we are sitting against a tree or log talkin about who we are going to breed to when season is out,or just shootin the bull about anything. It is nice to bag a few rabbits for the dogs especially if you have starting pups in the pack.We mostly just like to here the hounds run. That isn't so bad now is it.

What a sore subject for me. Yesterday the conditions in central Indiana were p poor to be nice about. My dogs had been on a rabbit for 20 minutes or so and were having a tough time at it. We had dry snow and the wind was blowing and the rabbit crossed the creek 3 or 4 times. A guy that lives down the street from me shows up and we talk for a minute or two and I walk off getting about 10 yards and he shoots the rabbit. If I would have had my 9mm I think I would have shot him. His dog was not on the rabbit and my dogs were working their butts off and he ruins it. He's acting like he was the great white hunter and I told him no you are just another a hole who doesn't know what the sport is about. I thought later I should have taken the rabbit. While plowing my driveway this morning he drives by blowing his horn and flipping me off. I had another great place to run at one time and then a bunch of rabbit killers got in. They don't own dogs. It is an old RR rightaway and they have their sons walk thru the thich stuff and they shoot every rabbit they see. Well, it went from a great place to run and train dogs to just another thicket.

I always have people wanting to gobut any more i ask them have you got any place to go. If you take them where you hunt the next time you get ready to go there is already a dozen people he brought with him or they have already wiped out all the rabbits. If they dont have a place to go i just dont take them.
