Nothing more frustrating

Post by johns03272008 »

Nothing more frustrating that coming out night after night and walking for 2 hours and never jumping a rabbit!!! I have seen nothing but a decline in rabbits every where lately!! I have a spot that I used to come out and it would normal to see 9+ rabbits just sitting out in a path!! Now I walk around and can't even jump a rabbit!! Anyone else been seeing a decline in their running spots??

Not lately, the population seems to be on an upturn around here.

Ever since I was a kid old hunters would tell me rabbits have a 7 year cycle. maybe your on the down side.?
Every year I have the same trouble jumping rabbits when I know there are rabbits. Same time about every year. Does are having babies, don`t put out much scent Little ones won`t run. Then all of a sudden running.
Hope it gets better. Lots of Swampers and cottontail here.

You said yourself what the problem is. You said there used to be 9 or more just sitting in the path. well if they just sit in the path then they are easy prey for the predators above. JMO.

We are not losing rabbits but are losing the places we run them. I no exactly how fustrated you feel though!! Two places left locally to run and when they are gone so am I.

I've never seen so many rabbits at my running grounds.. Maybe half of them will live until next year.

You probably have an owl cleaning them up. At night they are easy pickings out on a path. And the hawks will take care of the rest during the day.
