The philosopher Plato once said, "The measure of a man is what he does with power." From the many posts you can tell Joe's power lied in his gift of friendship. J, I'm sadden deeply as I was just asking you a few weeks ago how that ole son of a gun was doing. Joe was a special guy. Rest in peace ole friend...

Silas ,Rockytop,Steve ,Sharon, and Aaron .Thanks for you thoughts and comments.I appreciate it very much.

We buried my Daddy today and it is the saddest day that I have ever known. There is a hole in my life now that I know will never be filled again. I am taking steps to see that the most special dogs end up with the right people.I am doing this because its the right thing to do for the dogs and its the right thing to do for the folks who were awful good to my Dad .

Jamie Rice : My dad thought an awful lot of you. When my Dad asked me to start running Miles in ARHA ,I told him I would if I could carry him to some AKC trials too. His response was classic Joe Murphy . He said " I would run that darn AKC all the time if it had more people like them Rice boys and that Don Smith ." It didnt matter that he had never placed a dog under the people he mentioned . He knew and appreciated honesty and integrity when he saw it.

I am not sure if I am done competing for a while, for good, or maybe I am not done at all.Midwest has always been my favorite .I might find the right dog ,get serious about running him and go haunt Midwest for the next year or two.

The outpouring of comments, prayers and support since My Dad's passing has been truly overwhelming . I appreciate y'all a bunch.

Oh my, sorry to hear this. He was a good man, I remember him from the trialing "fun era" in the mid 90's, some great times.
