Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
Northwest Indiana Beagle Club. Does anyone have contact information for this club? I only rabbit hunted with beagles in the past and never trialed but I have a young dog now and would like to investigate getting into trials. I live in Wanatah Indiana not far from the club but haven't been able to contact anyone. Thanks for any help.

Re: Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
Jim the club relocated to North Judson.
John I have a 5 month old line bred Branko male. My experience with beagles in the past has been strictly rabbit hunting so I am a newcomer and not very knowledgeable as far as trials go but I am retired now and with more time available am interested in getting more involved.

Re: Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
I am pretty sure that club runs a UBGF sytle dog.
Not 100% sure.
You might get more information on this web site http://betterbeagling.com/
There are a few UKC beagle clubs in NE Indiana.
You could get more information on this web site http://forums.ukcdogs.com/
There are a few ARHA/NKC beagle clubs pretty close in MI or in Southern IN.
That web site is www.arha.com
If you looking for AKC trails. Go to AKC.org or http://www.mid-west-gundog.com/forum/
PKC has a couple Indiana beagle clubs. Their web site is www.prohound.com
Hope this might help.

Re: Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
Don't try to join a UBGF club with a branko dog I already went through that experience and was promptly told to leave the club! There are a few AKC Midwest clubs in Indiana and I'm sure ANY of them would be glad to have you as a member regardless of what bloodline you run or like!! Let me know if you would like more info!!
Re: Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
Northwest Indiana Beagle Club is a traditional brace beagle club. They are usually not receptive to gundogs running on their grounds. As far as UBGF clubs, it's true that a looser dog won't last long in a licensed trial, there are a lot of members that are rabbit hunters/pleasure runners and only run in fun trials or do not trial at all. I belong to Western Beagle Club, members are expected to help on work details and field trials. Members are not judged by the style of dog they run, though few houndsmen of any type care to run dogs with dis-similar speed or style together, it usually isn't very pretty to see.

Re: Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
Valpo Guy what sort of trials does Western Beagle Club run? As I said in my original post I am not knowledgeable about field trials and have only rabbit hunted over beagles in the past. What sort of trials would a line bred Branko dog normally run in? I would expect that anyone involved with a club would need to help out.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Northwest Indiana Beagle Club
sounds like a midwest style of dog most likely. here is a link to their federations web site. http://www.mid-west-gundog.com/ or check out arha little pack as your dog should fit in either one of them.
traditional brace is SLOOOOOW and ubgf is a little faster than brace but still with CLOSE line control and close check work. Midwest style are typically quite a bit faster and can be a little rougher. thats as far as akc goes. I dont have the other registries around me so I have never seen them go.
