Why don't people use their real name?

I'm always surprised how much information people will post about themselves on the internet. Sites like these have a small town feel to them and a since of community that make people feel safe I realize, but the reality is anybody has access to whatever information you give about yourself.

For instance, how much information would you give about yourself to a stranger in New York city?

Would you give your full legal name? Address? Birthdate? Phone number? Place of employment? Vacation schedules? Alot of these things can be gathered from sites like these and I would think that would be valuable info to a crook.. but I'm the cautious type.

If I have buisness with someone or meet up out running or at a trial no problem.Just no reason to put alot of info.out on the web.I still think a handshake and a mans word is one of the the most important qualities outthere.Can't do that on a keyboard though. Yes Roy (if that is your real name), I do live close to Harry and his uncle Biggle Bush....their cousin Sharon Richards (use to be a Bush) also lives within a few miles as well. I see the Bush's as much as I can but not all Bush's are the same....honestly, some I never want to see again!!!

Why don't people use their real name on these internet forums, instead of some weird alias that doesn't mean anything to anybody but the person using it.

If I have anything to say or sale, I don't mind people knowing who I am. Seems to me if everyone would do it, it would make things more open and honest and might cut down on some of the whining and crying you see on here.

Just my two cents worth.

Yes, Harry and his Uncle Biggle were close...about as close as two Bush's could be without it being awkward. Anyhow, Biggle had a dark side and out of the nowhere went clean. Yep, Harry was crushed cause he use to love the old Biggle Bush, probably more than he should to be honest. It was a sad day for not only Harry, but all the Bush's....sorry you didn't know.
