Post by Swampdog »

I have a young female off this cross. Wanted to know if anyone had heard of either sire or dam:
Sire: Cottontail Snake Hammer
Dam: Missy Creek Gunsmoke Hammer

Thanks in advance. :D

Don't know everything the pedigree but it goes back to Gunsmoke blue corkey.Corkey was out of Stony and Gunsmoke Blue Bonnie.I ran with the Stony dog in the early 90's I Think . I wanta say that cast had Bob Kirby's Gay Bake,Stony and James Petree's airport lady in it.Dont remember who won but Stony was the real deal.I think most of the stuff behind your dog are medium speed stuff with good noses.rabbit dogs.Jim Byram From Belmont ms owned the stony dog.

I owned the Corkey dog for the last ten years of his life . His sons, and daughter, and grand children, and a few great grand children are still running rabbit as Mr. Jim Byram bred them . Old cork could find a rabbit when most dogs just ran by them. He had more drive and bottom (never ending quit) than most dogs i have seen. Can't say he was perfect but a close as i have ever seen. As Mr. Jim told me,,,,, about once a year he just had to have a deer race just to keep you on your toes. The funny thing most of his children esp. the females never would run a deer. Can't help but smile rembering this old dog!!!!!

The male directly off corkey is lamberts gunsmoke hobo. The female bred to corkey was holmes blue holly. The female I have has endless bottom and awesome hunt. She is really turning into a decent dog. I think right much of her would really like to breed her to a really nice male.

I know Micheal Wilkerson, he is from Amherst, Virginia if he is the same guy your talking about... He didnt like big hounds liked at 13 and under... I sold him a male off of my champ dog as a pup and jus cuz he went over 13 in. he didnt want him... Said he was a 15" hound and I dont see how lol but his brother got right at 14.... He put him on a cage rabbit at 7 months old and his first time seeing a rabbit and he caught it... And to my knowledge didnt take him out again because he said he was too big... What a shame....
