Semi auto .410

Post by esampson »

Any recommendations on a good semi-auto 410 for rabbit hunting? Do they have trouble cycling shells since there is less recoil/gas?

There is a gun made Stoger that is very nice. You can shoot mine as fast as you like and it has never jammed.I am real happy with it.

I have a Remington 1100 in .410 and have found it a great gun. I feel the two most important factors in a gun are fit and weight. I am not sure if Franchi makes a .410 in the AL series but that would be the best way to go. The cost would be up there but quality and weight would be to your advantage.

The Franchi 48 Al comes in 28 GA but not .410 (unless they have added in the past year). I don't think you could beat the reliability of the Remmington 1100. I have a Franchi 48 AL 20 GA and I really like it.

I've owned 2 Remington 1100s and both started jamming in a couple of years of use. I took them in for service and they jammed again within 1 box of shells. I'd stick to the 870. Never a problem there.

I have a Franchi 48 AL 20 ga, and it jammed on me (on the discharge) first time out. It has a spring in the cylinder that's suppose to be flipped around for high brass shells so I don't know if maybe I have that in wrong or what. Ralph has the Franchi 28 ga and likes it real well. They're beautiful guns, but I was a little disappointed. Takes three hands to load them. I'm used to the ease of Mossberg's I guess.

I just looked and the Remington lists at almost $1000. Franchi doesn't make one.
