I took my first trip ever to Maine this past week to run hare. I headed up with JohnPA, Bob, his son Wyatt, and Barry. John and Bob have been to Maine in the past and everyone else was on their first trip. I was able to see my first moose around 6-7 through out the week and one dead one. The trip was a blast and I got to watch some of the fastest and longest runs I have ever seen. Even people that have ran hare a lot said they were running huge due to all the foliage still being up. We had several chases that lasted 2.5-2 hrs each before we were able to see the hare. We had our share of misses through out the week but it was a great trip. We ran a total of 10 dogs through out the week. I took Torque, Gauge and Rose. John took Star and Brandy. Bob had Blue, Fancy, Pepper and Bubba. Barry took his Copper dog. They all ran great and the pups were quiet surprising. We had 6 dogs that were just over two years old or just under. Blue, Star and Brandy were the only dogs to run a hare in the past. It was very interesting to watch the dogs learn they had to drastically change up their jump and running style. All in all it was a great week and I cant wait for next year. The next time I head up I will defiantly take an extra day off work though and make the trip home a lot easier. It was extremely if not impossible to shoot video in the cover we hunted. The only time I could even think about videoing was when we were on the roads which was not very often. I was only able to get two kills on video but it could have been four if I would have been around for the other two shot on the roads. Hope you enjoy.
