Bleach and water. Spray everything down with it. As far as I know it is the only thing that will kill the virus. Keep in mind that the virus can live on the ground or other sufaces for many months or possibly years according to some vets.

If you had your parvo infected pup ON THE GROUND, its going to be VERY, VERY difficult to get rid of it.

I would keep your pups OFF THE GROUND from now on.

How old was the pup when he got it?

Parvo is very hard to get rid of.... The pup will shed the virus for a long time if it lived. Also anything you stepped in or touched after handeling the pup now has Parvo virus on it too. 10 percent bleach will kill the virus but you may never completely get rid of it in your yard. Best thing to do is keep your pups UTD on the shots even though there is a small winsow of opportunity for them to catch it... (not counting if the vaccine is viable)

parvo virus has a incubation time of 7-10 days, so watch any other dog that was around your pup. I had a pup shipped in from Oklahoma a few years ago, that had parvo upon arrival, and I didnt know it untill a few days later when it became sick. I washed every thing down in my kennels with pure bleach, and have not had any problems since then. Its a very sad thing to watch a dog that catches parvo. You might have a 1% chance of the dog making it through it. I still have never heard of any dogs living through it.

Beaglerof4- I have a bitch at my house that just had pups who lived from parvo-- Was expensive and cost the guy I got her from way more money to cure than I paid for it but she is my best dog and made show Ch and HBCH when she was One.

Also, there have been other on here too. The key is knowing what it is quick and getting them on an iv and kaopectate to stop the diarheea.. If caught at the first sign its actually not to bad to cure them.. the problem is people assume its other things and after 24 hrs of symptoms the dog is done for almost.

I had a Rottweiler that caught parvo at 6 months and he pulled thru and lived to be 10 years old but it cost me around $300.00 to save him so you can save them if caught in time.

I had mine right to the vet, as soon as I noticed he was not right. Spent $900 dollars trying to save a dog that I had for only a few days, and already had $600 into just getting him here. He lived for about 12 hrs at the vets office, and that was even after emergency rushing him into the vet. Like I said 1% chance.. you guys must be that 1% ;) cause I had mine to a vet immediatly, and it still did'nt help. It deffinetly stopped me from ever buying another dog online and having it shipped here.

Ya, survival rate is not typical but if you can catch it right away or even before dog gets sick survival rate can be as high as 80 percent. After 24 hours its around ten to 15 and after 35 to 40 hours its slim to none. At least thats what my vet said... I know it cost the guy I bought my pup from 1800 bucks to save two of three pups... When I got her he offered my money back and honestly I didn't think she would make it.. She was the size of a four week old pup at ten weeks but I took her anyways..

But she grew full size and the only thing I can tell about her is she doesn't gain wait and has a weak stomach as far as that goes.
