Sorry, but the color of a hound is the last thing on the list. If it hunts, runs the way I like, he could be PINK. I have a kennel full of every color there is and think they are all pretty, even the blue eyed one!

Classic tri- color with a blanket back, but a lemon and White runs a close second. I detest the look ofa dark colored hound that has a nose color other than black or has eye color other than brown. Fastrackpa, You have a true Red and white in the picture , most folks would call it a Lemon which would not be correct. I like Red and white marked hounds like the one you showed, But I do not like most of the Red or chocolate hounds. We all like different things so no offense is intended but in my opinion there are some extremely ugly hounds already posted on this thread not only in color but in conformation. A beagle should be four square. there are too many long dogs out there , too many sway backs, and long rat tails. a lot of the pictures remind me of weiner dogs. People tend to call hounds they see good looking based on their colors alone. Have you ever noticed how someone can post a picture of a crooked legged, swaybacked, rat tailed , short eared hound that has good colors and invariably someone will post " Good Looking Hound"

open marked try,s are easier to see in the field in any season. i also like a good amount of white on the end of the tail. makes a good flag.
