Rising Sun Owners
Ok guys this is a roll call. I would once and for all like to know all of you out there that like me are Rising Sun hound owners so that I can put together a little book of all of our small family. I mentioned to Paul once more than half seriously that we should think of having a family reunion sometime and get all our hounds together to admire what each other has. If I could get him and others to partake in such an event I would try to do it this sunner at my place. I have room enough for as many campers, tents, our whatever as needed and plenty of places to run the hounds. I think it would be a blast and maybe we could put some pictures out there to show these great little hounds in action. Step up and introduce yourselves, names, e-mails etc would be greatly appreciated. For the record my e-mail is RSHillbilly59@aol.com. I had to change my e-mail due to computer problems. It has been an awful few weeks with computer problems, a flash flood that almost wiped out my entire kennel in the middle of the night as well as a host of other difficulties. Time for some better things to think about.

Rising Sun Dogs
I have been talking to Paul a few times over the past couple of months and I went and watched his older dogs run one morning. I am interested in getting one of these fine looking red hounds but I need to wait til spring. I am building a new home and living in rented space. Maintaining the three dogs i have is tough enough. If you guys get together I would like to come and watch the dogs run. Also, I would be interested in a female rising sun 7 week old pup come spring. I promised my daughters I would buy puppies next time.

I have 7 RS dogs. RS Dictator (TATOR) is out of Lamborgini and Snooker and the best way to describe him is my favorite pain in the ---. The fence around our property is only a high hurdle to him, he is constantly jumping it and off rabbit hunting. I put him back in his kennel and went on with my yard work and wasn't much longer I could hear him back on the golf course running rabbits again. He dug his way out. I went and got him and dug up his kennel and buried wood around the edges. Back to my yard work and again I hear him on the golf course running rabbits. Now he lives in a fortress, buried wood and a wire mesh top that he cannot climb out of. The golf course people are real nice, they let me use a golf cart for free everytime I show up. I have some of the old stuff in my kennel. Some of it has Branko in it from the cross Paul made with Brown's Little Bruce and Tammy. I would like to get together. I also work 6 or 7 nights a week so would need to know ahead of time to plan vacation. Andy and Gretchen Smith gertysbeagles1@netzero.com Indianapolis, IN

Andy,
It must be in the blood, this escaping thing. I wish I could LOL after saying it but the reality is that it is a pain in the butt. Several of mine have been unbelievable at getting out to run rabbits. It is not as though they want to get out for getting outs sake but are so filled with desire that they seem obsessed. There are much worse things to deal with and I would rather have that than a hound that could not care less if they were going or not. I have a couple that will be so upset when it is not their turn that before the truck leaves they are trying to figure a way to escape. By the way are yours as jealous as mine? When I go into the kennel and start playing with them they will push each other away to get near or on me. I feel like they are playing king of the hill as they climb in my lap and growl and snap at the one that tries to take their place. Paul says his do the same stuff and it seems to be a familial trait. One other thing I have noticed is mine seem to be "one man" hounds. While they are not shy in the least they sure do not care for strangers trying to grab at them and will stay back a bit to access the situation. They are not the run up to everybody and "Hi how ya doing type" from what I have seen. This may because of how I socialize my hounds I'm not sure. They ride in the seat of the truck as often as in the box and sleep on my coat with head on my lap on the way home after they are beat from a long run.

Here I am, here I am!! I just about missed this post.
I have two out of Hershey. I can't remember the Dame and I don't have access to the papers on them right now, but I would love a summer trip. Running, hot dogs, s'mores, running.
My dogs should be doing good by then. I haven't been home since they were about three months. So, all I have seen is them sight chasing. My e-mail is: jcscenturion@msn.com
I won't be able to access that one until I get home in a couple months. If you want one to reach me now you can use the one on the board or I can send it to your e-mail.
Talk to ya'll later.

Beaglehandler,
I want one of those blue pups out of Dictator and Tisch. I have the one from the board posted on my desk top here. What a good lookin' pup. I've only seen two that are better looking.

Dogdreamer: Paul took the female and Matt took the male. Out a litter of eight those were the only two blues. If we ever breed again you are welcome to pick of litter.
Hillbilly: Our dogs would rather sit on are our lap than eat, they are spoiled and know it. None of my dogs care for stangers picking them up, that is the only time I have any trouble from them. I like that also, know it would be hard for someone to snatch one out of the kennel. When Tator is out of his kennel one of us stay in the yard, he still goes to the fence and stares at the woods and thicket. That dog is all hunt, he don't have to pee, smell other dogs when he gets out of the truck. Nine times out of ten he gets the first rabbit going.

I live in Greendale, IN. My name is eric sampson. Just moved due to work from Versailles towards the big city. I know, pretty dumb! My better half had a lot to do with it. Anyway, I hunt with some folks from Cross Plains and run around Ohio, Switzerland, and Ripley County when I am hunting. Call me if you want and we can get together. mobile (513) 673-6369 or home (812) 537-0444. With that 667 # you are probably familiar with all my huunting areas.

I got a call from my cousin Bob tonight. he is more like a brother to me and we depend on each other when the going gets tough like the flood I just went through. He called to tell me about the male a gave him that is brother to my Yankee and the one I planned to keep originally. He has never owned a beagle of his own and always had coon hounds and hunted with me and my hounds. This afternoon he ran his new Rising Sun male that I gave him and his friend ran two of his hounds. He said he was so happy he thought he bust as that little hound pounded rabbits across corn fields, through woodlots and fields. He said even when his buddy's hounds were pooped out and ready to quit, the little 13 inch male was still pulling and straining to get off the lead to run. So they cut him loose by himself and he ran one more until it holed up. Another believer! I was happy that he was happy but never doubted that he would be, after all it was a pup with alot of promise, the right breeding and was given lots of time to do what he was bred to do.
Gotta love it!
