i hope there are alot of young rabbits or else this season is gonna suck. you can only tell everybody your dogs arent worth shooting so long. i may have to start writing some of these down.

With all the hot weather I haven't been able to run my dogs much. And on top of that when we did get out all the baby rabbits just gave them fits so they aren't in shape or tuned up just yet................ Does that one work??

I think we all realize that excuses don't change reality. I think much of beagling is based on "hope" of what a dog could be.

Honesty is not always expedient to having lots of beagle friends. There are guys that wont run with you much if your "too honest". I don't sugar coat it, and most don't really like that.

Some view their dogs as an extention of their arm. They would rather you bad mouth their wife than talk about the glaring fault their dog has. I want everyone to know my dogs faults so they can be looking for it and help me determine if its getting better or worse.

Some will even "fish for an excuse" to make themselves feel better about their dogs........"Hey dave, why do you think they couldn't run that last rabbit" or "why do you think they lost it" They don't want to hear; "because they lack the nose, or they're running too rough, or they're not returning to point of loss.....they want to hear.....storm coming in, rabbits are holing up fast, or that was a little one, did you see it, it couldn't have been 1/4 grown, or boy we need some rain.

Funny topic, but it makes me realize how insecure we can be about out dogs.........
