I run every other day. Rabbits are safe for a couple weeks. Squirrel, a different story. I love fried squirrel and stew and hunt them heavy.

I'll be running dogs and hunting grouse and woodcock for the next several weeks with my setter. I'm going to let these young rabbits grow up a bit and wait for a good hard frost or two before I shoot any bunnies. Have fun and leave a few for me.

I run beagles most of the year (at least once a week) but I'm going to try to get out and hunt a few times times this year and not till January and February after deer hunting season ends here in Mi, every property I run on is heavily hunted for deer so I stay out of the woods with the dogs most of Oct and Nov. But I have a good spot in mind for this winter! I'm new to beagling and rabbit hunting (altho I've been on a few trips with my dad when I was a kid) so hopefully i'll shoot my first rabbit this season!

good hunting!

It was raining (light rain) today and said heck with it Im going out, loaded up the dogs and headed out , Started at 7:30 am and got done at 10ish am, Jumped 2 - Ran 2, First rabbit up 1 1/2 circles and gave us a shot , he is in the truck within 20 mins of the drop , 2nd rabbit up 10 mins after that and he ran for 1hr 40 mins, seen him 3 times got 1 shot at him and missed, the other 2 times , 1 he was out to far crossing the trail, the other time he came straight to me , I drew and he went into the weeds and I never got a shot off, He stayed in the thick stuff and stayed deep for most of the run and never really got a good look for a good safe shot at him, The rain started to pick up to a steady heavier rain and the wind started to pick up as well so I called it quits for the day, Tomorrow morning I will be back out and see if I can get some Video (if not raining) of the hunt , All and all it was fun and heard some good music today
