Post by art »

i just bought a truck with a hard shell toneau cover on the bed. i have a big owens box that will not work.so i was looking to buy a box that will fit in the truck and still allow the lid to close. does anyone else have one like this . and what height box will i need. and also my wife says the dogs will not be able to breathe with the lid shut.lol so if this lid is gonna cause me a problem . then it will be removed and i will just put the big owens in there. any help or sugestions will be great. thx

years ago my hunting buddy had a soft cover on his truck and he never used a dog box,he hauled them that way for years, just tossed them in and closed the tailgate, one day we were going hunting in early fall ,he said he would drive,i was running behind so i met him later ,glad i did cause we had a funeral that day instead of runnin dogs

if it was me and i wanted to leave the cover on id leave the tailgate down

I have been haulin mine under a soft top. Haven't had any issues. I might start rolling it up, sure would hate to open tailgate to that scene.

I have a hard cover on my Tundra and when I have to use it to haul dogs in I have a box that is 19" tall that fits under the cover and will let it close and I have used it off and on for 4 years with no problem but if I have to use it when it is hot I just leave the tailgate down but most of the time they are hauled in my little hunting truck. I bought a trailer to haul them in on long trips when I drive my Tundra on hunting trips.

I THINK Miravics Blue Ninja died when they shut the back hatch door on a mini van and he was in the heat for 1/2 a day with no windows open. i would never let my dogs loose under a tonneau cover just to roam freeley but if they were in a dog box and you had the cover rolled back part way it wouldnt affect how the box worked.....just in my opinion

Art, don't haul your dogs in there. Either take the top of or use your trailer. Jens right.. Don't take a chance..
