Wright's Little Deacon
I've heard some good things about him- What speed would you-all consider him to be?

Re: Wright's Little Deacon
The reason I'm askin is I have a chance to breed one of my dogs to Wright's Little Deacon, & I'm wondering about the speed matchup. It seems he's real popular with the AKC SPO guys in my area. One of them just bred a Sailor bitch to hm that also has some Grim Reaper & Cranks Chicken blood. But I believe my dog is faster than than these lines.
When she's on track, there's no way you can walk behind her & keep up.

Blackwater,
From the pups I've seen out of Deacon, they have plenty of foot to run in UBGF trials. You can't walk behind a pack of UBGF dogs anymore. They used to be more conservative, but they want them to get up on a rabbit now. I ran and judged Mid West trials in the late 80's and early 90's, and some of these UBGF dogs would have fit in the Mid West back then. Another thing I've seen from Deacon pups that some UBGF studs don't throw is hunt. All the pups I've seen out of him stay busy and hunt hard. I haven't seen Deacon run, but his pups I've seen run about 6-6.5. 1 being traditional brace and 10 being Mid West/LP. Good luck.
Mike
