My dog started to throw up and have diharrea sunday night around 9 oclock, this lasted all night into the morning around 8 oclock it slowed down. Monday he was his typical self but just a little tired like anything would be after a night like that. He wouldnt eat or drink anything all day monday which had me a little concerened about dehydration because he was still throwing up and haveing the runs here and there threw out the day. Tuesday I stuck a lump of peanut butter to the roof of his mouth thinking he would have no choice but to eat it. I was wrong and amazed as he spit it out on the floor and within about 2 mins was throwing up again. After we went outside for the morning he came in and had a nice sized drink for the first time since sunday. Later on I even got him to eat a couple milk bones but refused anything else. I figured it was a start and he even had another small drink. This morning I found him throwing up again, and refusing food and water. So I called the vet and he has a appt. at 3 today. But I was just wondering if anyone had thoughts or ideas or if anyone has had this happen before.
thank you,
-Travis

Or, at best, maybe the dog just ate something dead & nasty that didn't settle good. That happened to one of mine, & I gave her Pepto-Bismall every few hrs. Hope it's not Parvo, but ya, I'd get her checked out.

Re: help sick dog
Vet says it isnt parvo. They think he just has a stomach bug of some type. but they pumped some fluids into him to keep him hydrated and gave him a shot to help his stomach and intestines, they said his intestines were a little flared but no blockages, they gave me two types of pills to give him one to help calm his stomach and one to keep his intestines from flaring. to my suprize he took the pill really well considering he doesnt wanna eatI gathered what I could for a stool sample and he is free of parasites too. Supposed to let it go a couple more days with the meds and see if they help....

Re: help sick dog
From what you described, it sounds like coronaviral gastroenteritis (corona). I'm sure the vet tested for this, though. If it is this, all you can do is keep him hydrated as much as possible, give antibiotics and some type of stomach pectin the let it run its course. You may vaccinate for this diease, but if not I would suggest you do so . It is highly contagious. Good luck.

Re: help sick dog
Gave him another dose of meds this morning and this afternoon he had a fairly large drink and even ate a little cooked hamburg the best part is it stayed down and didnt end up on the floor.
