Tennessee Beaglers

Post by Volfan »

Last weekend the TWRA passed the proposal to change the law so we could run our rabbit dogs at night. I don't know when it goes into affect but they did pass it.

Some of these laws are crazy anyway. I payed for my farm, i pay taxes on my farm. I run rabbits on my farm day or night, but it's good to know they now see it my way.

The TWRA was very receptive to changing that law. After I spoke with some higher ups with LEO and with some of their biologists, many couldn't understand why it was like it was. Last year they told me if they could get it on the agenda it would pass easily. They were right.

I also emailed all the members of the TWRC but none replied. I'm not shocked about that however.

They also moved rabbit season back a week to the first Saturday in November for us. We gained a whole week and with deer season closing a week early, we actually gain a week hunting on deer clubs.

Swamper jut goes to show you must have more pull than I do , been talking with them for 2 1/2 years on the night run'n as well as the deer season going into small game , just never thought it was good to put folks with dogs amoung folks with hi-powers , most time all is good , but you always have that 1 who's gets pissed.

randy i keep pretty close tabs as good as i can on my hounds when i am out . if the dogs go into the woods whixch i try to keep out.. and stay in the fields during season ,but if i hear a shot go off i immediatly call my dogs in ,, if not accounted for i would then go looking for a hunter. i bet i got more buckshot on me than hes got hi power shells lol. plus i know where he will be parked ,, we have just as much right as they do .

now i do try to respect the fact they are there . and many are glad to see me there keeping the deer out of the grown fields and in the woods where they are,

i dont run much at night but glad to hear i can now and be law abiding lol..

Anyone have any troubles out of the 'yotes night running here in TN??Ive always been a little hesitant I like runnin up until a little after dark but havent tried a late night summer run which is what Im probably about to have to start doing. Also are they more likely to stay away if you run 2-3 as opposed to soloing?

Hey guys glad to spread the word. They did shorten the deer season to the end of December too. Which should give us two months of rabbit hunting with no deer season except for the youth hunt the first weekend of Jan.

We've never had a problem with yotes in Wayne CO but it could happen. There are enough coyote hound hunters around here that I believe hounds means get the heck out of dodge to most coyotes.

Preacher runs bells on his dogs because those sorry Patch dogs won't come to him. :moon:
