Just went out to feed the dogs and let them run around in the yard for a little while and one of my males seems to be paralyzed on his left side. He puts no pressure on either the front or back, still has feeling in his legs because he whines when I pull on them to straighten them out. No swelling anywhere either so I don't think it is any kind of bite. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen anything like this before and what might be causing it.
Thanks, Fulton

Re: Need some help
Took him to the vet and had him checked out. Vet said it is not a back injury and everything looked ok in that area. However she did say that it appeared to be a parasite of the red blood cells that causes stiffness and lameness in the joints. The parasite is caused buy ticks or fleas, which I have seen neither of, so I am a little confused on how he could have gotten this. He also tested positive for Heartworms and has been on a once a month pill his entire life ! As far as the Heartworms go she said they have seen an increase in dogs that have been on medicine testing positive. It seems to been mainly in the Mississippi Delta region and into a small portion of Tennessee that this is coming up.
