I sent three of my dogs to the training pen about three weeks ago now for a two week stay, they ran day and night hard and when I picked them up the only difference I saw was a few pounds difference in weight in each dog, think of going in the morning before it get to hot!!

I have been running late evenings with some luck, Not all good races as there are a ton of little rabbits, I have only been running 1 hr-1 1/2 at a time due to my female is due the 28th and the heat, I run 5-6 days a week so I feel 1to1 1/2 hrs a day is plenty for them, I put her up until the pups are here as of today

We have been running about a hour and a half before dark and then staying until midnight and sometimes way up in the morning,we've been having 1 1/2 sometimes 2 hour races, just remember to keep a lot of fresh water and Gatorade for the dogs and pay close attention to your dogs although they might sound good, there is always 1 or 2 in there struggling to keep up in this heat.Sure is a good way to blow one up or stroke one out if your not careful.

I ran yesterday from 8pm till 10pm running was awesome. 4 dogs down.

ran tonight from 8pm till 9:30pm running was great had some decent length runs. But dogs come in very hot breathing harder than last night. It was a bit warmer. I run about 4 or sometimes 5 nights a week like that. couple hours at a time. I feel that's plenty to keep them on their toes.

I have been running from 8pm to 945pm or so every night the last two weeks. I have been soaking them down before they go out and again when i get home. I ran Jeep twice today trying to get him ready for this weekends hunt. The morning run was by far cooler....just don't have the time to run in the mornings.

Les,
Does gatorade hurt the dogs in any way? I thought about it using it but wanted to ask if any body has before i did it. Are you using clear? Would certian colors do funny things to there kidneys, etc....

I've been cuttin them loose at night at the farm and lettin them run all night if they want. I have plenty of water streams and a small lake on the back of the farm for them to get when they need it. Been just lettin the B Team run right now and givin my older dogs a little break from running.

it never has hurt any of our dogs,we've let them have it about 12 to 15 years we always mix it 50/50 now as far as color goes i don't think it will hurt them jmo,and i'll always take some good ole sweet tea for myself sometimes i'll let them have some of it now that might hurt there kidneys
