great pictures

its yes and no with me. Ive got a female that bleeds good. but by the end of gun-season her tail tip is so worn and raw looking its just not good. She even goes as far as sitting down and licking it. which is interrupting her hunting. rest of my dogs all have the tail tips docked and I've even got one with a short bobtail.

Some dogs tail dont' even bleed I'm talking a natural unbobbed tail. It don't mean they aren't hunting just the same as a bloody tip tail dog. that just my take on it.

and it also depends on what they are hunting in = type of cover.

I even went as far as docking tail tips on my recent litter of pups to avoid any bleeding while hunting. Its just my personal preference. i'd much rather have my hunting dogs in good shape at all times. don't want to see any fall over fainting from low blood levels or something crazy like that. we've got to be ready to run and gun non-stop for how ever long and for how every many days in a row. don't need to by laying up hounds cause of excessive bleeding of the tail. Just my thoughts on it.

those are some great pictures.

What do you guys use on the the tail when you get home and clean them up? Or do you just let them clean it themselves?

Moe bleeds a lot when it comes to his ears. I have seen him have blood drip off his ear like a leaky water faucet. His mouth is usually bloody as well. I like that kind of desire as much as any one does. I just use peroxide on moe's ears and then use bag balm after that.

I've been lucky enough not to have hounds with horribly bloody ears. We just don't have the thick briars like they do in other states. We may have them here in Mo but not were I do most my off season running or where I gun. Yes they've had cuts and scraps on their ears but never dripping or torn up bad. Thats gotta hurt!

Yep, actually he was trying to save the precious life of a rabbit from being eaten by a diving hawk. He took the blow from its sharp talons for sake of the rabbit. See peta could use a dog like mine. LOL!

bloody or not right or wrong peta or not its a beagle it runs thru briars and can and will get tore up. Nothing wrong with that its just part of beagles.

Don't tell me a lion or a tiger don't get torn up in the process of chasing his prey. Its the same thing sort of but with beagles.

heck one time I bit my finger while I was eating some french fries
