Rabbit question
I am not familiar with a Redback rabbit. How big does get at maturity. Color? I assume they are a domesticated strain. How well do the run when chased by beagles? How well do they survive in a starting pen provided a predator does not catch them? Will they live on native grasses or must their diets be supplemented? It would be great to have a few rabbits to run during March and April when the wild rabbits are having young ones.

Re: Rabbit question
if your talking about the rabbits i think you are, you are refering to an appalachian cottontail, or wood rabbit as some call them. i dont think they are a demestic breed of rabbits. we have some around here and its been my experience that the bucks run awesome, but does hole very quickly.

Re: Rabbit question
Tennesse redbacks are like san juans with a red ridge down there back the are about the size of wild rabbits and can be trained to run well in pens once they become wild they will do pretty well. but you will lose some to dogs catching them just as any tame rabbit.

Re: Rabbit question
Thanks --- Sounds like the TN Redbacks would be OK for pups or perhaps soloing a young dog.
