I bred Gator , but sold him as a pup. He was open marked, 15". I only got to see him run briefly at a trial when he was running in the Mid-West; he was fast & hard hitting ; that's about all I can tell you. John Dewyse & John Dahn in Michigan finished him & they really loved him. He died last year & has produced a few FC's; most notable, Rolling TRAILS.
I owned Prime Time from age 5 1/2 to 9 1/2 when he died. I finished him; he was fast and smooth for his speed. His desire & nose were his dominate traits; could have used a touch more brains, but would surprise me at times with his intelligence. He turned out to be a good producer also. He was blanket back, tri- colored, 15".
I have a female, Wells Woods Silver Star, that is by Prime Time & Gator's littermate sister, FC Wells' Silver Spring. Star has been a really good producer so far no matter what I've bred her to.

I got 5 derbys right now all around 16 months old out of Gator and three different bitches. Exellent speed, line control, and close in the check! Tough with endless bottom and handle great.
Gator was a real producer, and a pedigree full of producers! Thats the key!
Never got to see Primetime run but more importantly he was also a potent producer with a pedigree full of proven producers. Thats the key! I got pups 4 weeks old with Gator as grandsire on top and Primetime as great grandsire on bottom.

Gator Died at the age of 8 , hit by a car while hunting . He has produced very well with Agate , i had one from that cross Rough and Ready who was a very nice hound but needed to be run up good .I have seen 2 others from that cross Nice Cream and Oliver, i judged at York counties , and Oliver was awesome took the blue with style walking away with it , not with blinding speed just focus and control. I have seen Trails run a bunch he has a bundle of talent, real deal . I know Steve has NLP IFC Riley's Rolling Trails at Stud Cedar Beck Oliver is well on his way to IFC , 2 trials in ckc 2 wins, i would try one from either one of these hounds. The ones i have seen were all 15 inch hounds , I have only seen one Primetime hound run Blazer while he was in Canada. Running a Hare wasn't his thing .

I saw John Dewyse(MI) at a Mid-West trial in Indiana shortly after Gator died. He said people up that way had recognized Gator's producing power & he bred numorous females the last year of his life, so we may see more good hounds by Gator in the future. Gator's sister, FC Silver Spring was probably the best all around dog I've had. She was fast, but won because of her amazing line control & brains. She could turn out of a pack and be gone before they knew what happened. I remember one trial she won that she got the last 8 or 9 checks on a twisting cottontail; everybody knew who won that one. She finished with four wins in 8 or 9 trials entered. I credit a lot of thier ability to the bitch line, which is often overlooked. I may be wrong, but I believe being a grandpup to Elk Creeks Amazing Grace (IFC Taylor's Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude) has a lot to do with both the talent level & producing ability of Gator. Not to take anything away from the top side , Pacesetter, Prop, etc., but Grace and her littermate, Moon Pie (Prime Time's dam) were the most dominating dogs I've seen since I've been in beagling. Look at the way Prime Time has produced also; top sire in the Mid-West for 4 years & only bred to around 30 bitches. I take no credit except for recognizing talent & not being kennel blind.

You will see some good hounds in the next couple year out of Gator yet, because he produced to just about everything he was bred to. But there are not many out there! He did breed a bunch of bitches his last year, but I dont think even half of them had pups. I believe he would have been on top of the reproducing list if he would have had a couple more years of breeding!
