Blue bag is the answer I switched a month ago and have started throwing in some eggs and have had some great results.

I feed Natural 26, Blue Seal makes it,I have been feeding it for 25 years.Just have to keep a eye on the dogs, thats with any feed, know when to feed more and know when to feed less.I keep everything in a jurnal and have done so since I was a kid.I do know a dog uses lots more energy in the winter, they use lots of it just to stay warm.I mix my feed with hot water in the winter months it helps to keep them warmer without them using energy from there food to stay warm. just my 2 cents. Joey what I do in the winter is go to the local cafe and get their grease they throw away and just pour it over their food. Nothing but fat in it. Dogs keep their weight on and coats shine up nice. I'm sure you've got a local cafe there that would give it to you.

How much do you use MO? And I mean like per dog per feeding.........just enough to get the kibble moist or what?

I mix a 5 gallon bucket at a time. I just pour it on and mix it up where its all moist but not just dripping wet. The dogs love it. I just do it when its real cold out or I'm runin a bunch. Its a very affective and easy way to keep your dogs weight on and keep the coats shiny.

Much simpler method I use when I can't keep weight on.
If a quarter cup more food doesn't help.
Pure corn oil. Put one ounce on their feed, adds extra fat.
Watch them tho, they will pork up real quick.

I feed the blue bag 24/20 and like it alot.Been feeding BG since 2002.When it gets down below 30 degrees i increase their feed by 1/2 cup and add lots of warm water.I have noticed in the past when it gets real cold they seem to get dehydrated since their water bowl is freezing up and they go all night without water. They tend to draw up a lil bit on their weight so i add the water to the feed.

Big River Beagles S, I agree with you about another company manufacturing the black bag for Black Gold. When Black Gold made the food themselves it was great. I swear the dogs would get fat just looking at the food. I believe Doane makes it now and they are well known for manufacturing cheap inferior dog food. There have been alot of problems with feeds manufactured by Doane. You can Google Doane and see the results yourself. I did not know that Black Gold manufactured their premium lines in their own facilities. With that being said I don't mind paying a higher price for a high quality dog food that keeps the dogs in shape and doesn't produce a weeks worth of waste in a days time. In the long run you feed less and your dogs look, feel, and act better. There are a lot of folks who look for the cheapest feed they can find not realizing in the long run it will cost them more money to keep a dog in good shape. How is the waste and clean up in your kennels? If I can find a distributor within 50 miles I will probably give the Black Gold Premium lines a try. Thanks.

It isn't just made by Doane they have 3 or 4 different companies that make it for them the last time I knew that was a little over a year ago. That was why there was no consistency to the feed. Thats why I quit feeding it and almost decided not to feed anything Black gold made but my dealer talked me into trying the Blue bag and I liked it and I would highly recommend the plantation blend for the summer running.
