Re: Question - Pups Opening on Scent
i wouldnt worry bout it now put them on live rabbits !!
Re: Question - Pups Opening on Scent
They are barking on a fresh sent you just laid down. a dead one smells just like a live one.
( unless it liad in back of the truck in 90 deg. heat)
and as long as they are not barking on it 2 hours after the fact.
i would be patting them on the head.
trap ya one, put it in a wire cage let the pups bark at it for about 5 min.
cut the rabbit lose, soon as he hits the brush let the pups go.
walk with them so they are not worried about getting lost an will focus on the sent.
good luck.
but it sounds like your doing a fine job as it is.

Re: Question - Pups Opening on Scent
I got 3 rabbits sunday I had planed to see what my pups would do, they had not seen a rabbit yet. I put the rabbit in front of my male and he was all about it. I put them both down and let him smell it and it was on. He chased it and opend his mouth chasing it all over the yard. After a few mins.I grabed the rabbit and put it up. My pup was all over the trail looking for that rabbit. He followed the trail to where I picked the rabbit up and just dug at the ground. I hope that works!
