DC30s' on Dayglow

Post by Spruce Ridge Beagler »

In picture 1 I punched a few holes in the strap to pull the wire through allowing the wire to stay on the underside of collar. I also punched a second set of holes to pull wire back through and plug into the DC30.
In picture 2 I cut a slot in the spacer to keep from pinching wire.
Pic. 3 is the finished collar with a wire tie around collar holding antenna on.
Pic. 4 is one done by Nick B and pic. 5 is also Nicks.
As you can see we both used electrical tape to protect the GPS antenna wire. The only thing I will do different on my other collar is try to use a shrink tube and maybe use a solid "shim" or "spacer" instead of two seperate spacers that way I can keep the wire between the two to further protect it. I have used my collar about six times with no issues at all. It fits my little bitch well and cleans up nice.
Thanks to Nick and Chip for your tips, greatly appreciated !

Thanks for the picture Dave. I was hoping there was enough room to add a G2 reciever to the dayglo collar also.

It may not be :(

Dave the only thing that I did different was the second piece of Day Glo material I ran it from one part to the other part as a solid piece of material. I hope you understand what I did.

Thanks Chip,
Once I completed the first collar I realized that would be the way to go on the next one.

Like I told you it does take some timenot hard work but just take time to make sure that everything is right. If you use Day Glo between both pieces you don't have to use the tape and you can also put the wire under the Day Glo.

One suggestion I would have is that instead of using electrical tape, use heat shrink tubing instead. It would be fairly inexpensive and it wouldn't come off like the electrical tape will.

Nice job Chris! I like the way your antenna floats.
I can see now I will be changing mine. Now all we need to do is get Garmin on board :hammer:

How are you guys attaching the underside dayglo? Is it riveted somehow?

Is there enough room on the collar for a G-2 shocker, 14-15 inch hounds?

I'm gonna say no. By time you cinch the gps collar up on the dog, there isn't enough room for a name plate, let alone an e-collar. On a bear/coon hound it might work though.

Here is a pic of my newly modified collars :) Much better than what they come with. I had the extra collars from buying my sportdog system. They sent a couple extra collars of different colors so they are different for each dog.
