That's a good question cspot. I know that my dogs would have eaten the whole thing in one sitting, but I'm guessing probably 1 pound would be more than enough for an active dog. What would that be? Ten or eleven meals. It'll make them put on weight in a hurry, so you got to be careful with overfeeding it.
Just guessing though as I usually used it as an additive, or treat, or just a last ditch food to help an ailing dog.

Just feed Pro Plan or at least mix it with regular purina (green bag )sounds like that can be time consuming and exspensive ,Pro Plan will keep em looking fine ,it does for mine .

i know this, alot of what folks do to/with their dogs may not be recommended/accepted by others.i research and try what i beleive will keep my hounds healthy/happy/productive.
i am pretty sure i got that bottle of fish oil at gander mountain,in the trapping section for like 6 bucks.
its called minnesota brand#1fish oil
sold by--tim caven 6699 156th ave nw
pennock mn 56279

walmart sells capsules, but is expensive compared to bulk,if you want alot go to the bulknatrualoil site in this thread,

here they sell it direct for 5 bucks a pint--says not for human consumption, but it dont seem to hurt the dogs lol

i dont see where puree-ing the vegtables does anything, raw is raw.my dogs have no problem digeasting a chunk of pepper or etc.
i have noticed this when feeding raw-------also one reason it is better than any kibble diet(gonna open a can of worms for saying that)
there is alot more moisture in the raw diet and the dogs will drink less--alot less
less water intake saves wear and tear on kidney function to process the extra water intake from a dry diet---this one fact alone may keep a dog healthier, for a longer period in its life---just maybe.i dont want to argrue this statement with anyone
my diet concoctions cost about 1.00-1.15 a meal per dog.i am only feeding three,i could cheapen it up by adding cooked rice, but i dont.if i did it would be well under a buck per feeding
i usually will mix and freeze a few bags full so all i need to do is grab and toss into bowls.they always seem to eat the bone first, why i dont know.
i could be a hassle on a traveling trip,
just gotta worry about thier teeth and balancing the calcium/phosphourous.imo

The reason I asked was that I was considering using venison and using as a daily feed. I have the availability of plenty of deer tags and have my own processing equipment. I also have a big freezer so I could make alot of it at one time and freeze it. With getting the meat for basically free I would think that my cost per meal would be pretty low, and would be better for the dog. I would think that one pound would probably be too much for one meal since there are no fillers in this.

Do you ever use rabbit for your raw diet? If so, do you kill the rabbit, raise them or buy it from somewhere? ;)

My plans for this winter are total raw diet! I know a few farmers and am on the list for a cow ready to expire. I have my own processing equipment. I am going to grind the whole cow in to mince and follow a recipe with greens and some cooked rice and make patties out of it all and freeze it. Space for a freezer in the kennel is there so I am going to try it to see for myself. I am not a big fan of most commercial feed I can afford, and what I make must be healthier than what comes from the rendering plants into a bag......
