How do this Sire's pups do in competition. I have not heard much from dogs he has sired but I was wondering if I just wasn't hearing from the right folks. If you know of a dog from this sire that is performing well in the field while hunting or trialing please tell me. Eric Sampson

I have limited experience - but will share what I know first hand. I have a pup out of Syris and a Maple Hill Chief bitch. The pup is not quite 6 months old. I took her to a starting pen last week and she started in two days. The guy who started her for me was also working with 5 other pups between 6 - 8 months - all very well bred. They had all already been there for several days when I dropped her off. When I went back to pick her up she was standing out from the rest - jumping and running head and shoulder better than all the others. I took her out with a couple older dogs the next day and she went right with them and did just fine. I'm expected good things and like what I see so far.

I know of one female that is doing well. She's only been trialed in UKC, the owner will be trialing her in NKC and AKC later this year.
Registered Class (4 hunts - she is now a Champion)
1. 1st place (2003)
2. 1st place (2003)
3. 6th UKC Nationals (2003)
4. 10th Place UKC Qualifier (2003).
Champion Class (has been entered in 3 total champion divisions and has placed once)
1. 6th out of 80 plus Dogs at this past weekends Coshocton World Qualifier in Ohio (2004).
She's over 2 years old and it out of Syris, and Sock it to me Breeding.

I have been able to see two hounds off of Syris run in SPO and LPH competition up here in the Northeast.
The first, Smokes Creek Maximus Crank is an excellent hound. Max runs the front with control and knows how to put the brakes on. He has a strong voice and gets his fair share of checks. I don't see him as a rough hound and I haven' seen him enough to tell you about any consistent faults he has. Both times I had the chance to judge him he placed. The first time a 3rd at Broome County and the second time a 2nd at Pittstown. He looked better when he got the third at Broome County, if that makes sense.
The second, My Destiny, is a little bitch out of a Blue Barry bitch. She is a faster, front running dog. She looked good the one time I judged her on snow. She was able to drive harder then the other dogs, but was beat by an older, more experienced dog, took 2nd. If she was brought to more trials I think she would do well.

My name is Jamie Hilbert and I have handled a dog by the name of Rheaume's Blue Syris. He is a very hard hitting hound and when ran in his last trial busted away from the pack twice and got about a 15-20 yard jump on them before they knew what was going on. His oldest offspring are just over two and just starting to be trialed in several different registeries where all are placing and doing quite well.

I have a male syris pup that is almost 11 month old. Mo was packing and running rabbit with medium speed older hounds at 6 month old. Circled his own rabbit the other day in 3 minutes. very smart hound, high prey drive, runs to catch and eat. I like him alot, turns so hard in check area turf comes out of ground and head snaps like on a swivel. Ok mouth.

I also have a pup from Syris and Maple Hill Cheif bitch and only 5 months old now and is running rabbits. She is still ruff around the edges but she has started faster and better than any other dog I have started. She works well on line control and check area and has been ran less than a dozen times. I might send her to starting pen to have another opioion of her. I have been offered more than twice what I payed for her. Not for sale. I also must say thank you to Jamie Hilbert for finding this pup for me. He is the type of houndsman that proves there are good, honest people in this sport.
I have a 9 month old female out of Syris and a Sock it to me bred gyp.
Money can't buy her.
She runs heads up (lots of nose), she's big and pretty fast, holds the line pretty tight and is usually at the front or close to it.
Her only faults right now is that she is a little tight mouthed and she is a little hard headed. The hard headed side typically comes out of the Sock it to me hounds, which I have a few of, but I'm not sure why she is somewhat tight mouthed. She's coming out of it though.
I'll be breeding another gyp of mine that is double Sock it to me bred to a son of Syris just as soon as she comes into heat.
I hope to get a good cross out of this litter. Syris, Sock it to me, and Northway Spur. Can't wait.

I have one of the oldest litters of pups out of Syris and from 5 pups one, D&D's Wild Red Rose made LPRch in 6 hunts, the female I kept has been in 3 trials, placed 2nd in PBGA Qualifier, made winners pack in a Mid-West trial but came back limping 1/2 way through cast, they are about 2 1/2 now. I have another male, littermate brother to Max, placed 3rd in his first AKC Derby trial, placed 5th in his first UKC trial and placed 9th in his first ARHA trail. He is not 2 yet.

I have not seen any pups sired by Syris for sale in the last 2 or 3 months. If anyone knows any different I would like to know who sold one and why if that is not being to nosey. I have Smokes Creek Kiss Me Kate and she will never be for sale. I would give her to Rick but that would be the only way she would ever leave my kennel.
