His name was Carmen Vigliotti. His hounds were registered as C & S, (Carmen and Sue). They had several red dogs. I got their culls for gundogs when I was a boy and fell in love with beagles, briars and bunnies. Their hounds were all Pearson Creek Carson, Stub, Wilcliffe Bannister, Boogie, and others I can't remember, talking about nearly 40 years ago. The hounds I had were about a 4-5 speed and therefore unfit for brace. Some would raise their heads (I had one that Carmen had rescued from a "trainer" who beat him in the head as he walked the track to try to keep him from raising his head). Some were bench legged and some were just too fast (ran too much rabbit, I love that phrase).

I have found that if you take the dog toa place to run with another dog and they are hesitant to pack I will bring a Tie Out Chain 3 or 4 feet and place it out in the arae where your other dog is running and make the young dog watch and listen and when he begins to show interest and shows that he wants to be part of the running by barking and pulling to get in the race don't let him go too soon, have him sit there and really want it and then relaese him and usually one or two trips of him being tied up as the other dog goes and jumps and runs a rabbit he will usually start to go right to her/him after that. If he still is reluctant give him to an older person or a kid that can only handle one dog that wouldn enjoy him. A few of us have given some gunshy or other pack faulty hounds away to older guys that just enjoy going out and listening to a dog run.

I can't picture him, but, do remember the name. Must have been at the same places sometime. Good bloodlines he had there. Pearson Creek was very popular.

A lot of Beaglers from up North came down here to Northern Alabama (I hate that term) to compete at our club, Magic City Beagle Club which is still in existance and is beautiful to see.

I too hunted with others culls and got many a pup raised and also dogs started for the big breeders.

What a way to grow up as a boy huh!!!
