i have a dog out of shooter and dinha and he is a tracking machine, and i would call him upper med maybe, and even he has ran rabbits down in a sight chases and killed them. i would not say they are windsplitters, but they can hunt all day and than all night. let them take a few hour nap and cut them lose for round two. endless bottom period. if a dog dosent put all his heart in trying to catch a rabbit,(in a sight race) it dosent make it around here. how will he ever overtake a rabbit?
Mine will sight chase and he s a hunting machine turn him lose hes off ,but if he doesn t sight chase as long as he has the track under him I hate to kill to many rabbit the cats ,coyotes, and red tale and bald eagles around hear, keep them cleaned out I counted 10 red tale hanks in a 30 mile streach on state road 63 here in Indiana if I want to kill one I take out the 20 GA but I don t shot were I run can t train pups that way

Sbadger,
You are right about the hawks up that way. When I travel up 63 to Chicago I see a hawk on nearly every telephone pole along the way when I get up north your way.
Me and my brother was hunting next to the Army ammunition Plant dog run a rabbit across a open corn field red tail hawk come down off a tree dog barking and grabbed the rabbit I was down in the woods deeper I herd the rabbit squiling my brother shot the hawk drop him rabbit ran down through the finger I was in and I shot him boy to my suprize the fur was pulled from his tail up to his shoulders hell he was already half skinned that was in early 80 s know you cant get 10 feet in the woods and they would be on top of you , theres 72 miles of road in there
